All my services start with a complimentary 20-minute introduction consultation so we can talk about what you’re struggling with and where you hope to be for your speaking skills and your career, and then see if we’re a good fit. Call me at (209) 262-0770 or email me at email@example.com to schedule yours today.
Speaking in front of a live audience
I know it can be nerve-racking to give a presentation in front of an audience of 400, 40 or even 4 people. But instead of asking yourself, “What if I mess up?” ask yourself, “What if I knock it out of the park?” You’ll learn various exercises to calm your nerves and how to create and deliver a compelling presentation in front of an audience. I’ll help you structure a beginning, middle and end; identify stories to add life to your presentation; use nonverbal cues like eye contact, hand gestures and pacing; and cut out those “ums,” “likes” and “you knows.” You’ll get to practice with me in a safe, no-judgment space.
Speaking on camera
It’s intimidating to have a camera pointed at you and have to talk at it while each move and each word is recorded. But don’t worry — you’ll get over your mistakes and those clips can be deleted. I’ve made dozens of mistakes on camera that were, luckily, forgotten overnight. Off camera, we’ll work on the structure of your presentation or interview, the stories you can include, as well as your on-camera delivery. I’ll ease you into practicing speaking on camera and then we’ll watch and review the videos together. It’ll be just us in a no-judgment zone – I promise.
Crafting your elevator pitch
Have you ever tried to explain what you do in just 30 seconds or the length of an elevator ride? It’s not easy to sum up a job or a business when you live it every single day. I’ll help you “cut the fat” of your pitch and highlight the most enticing points to leave your potential investor, client or customer asking for more.
Interviewing for the media
If you have the opportunity to be featured on a news website, newspaper or TV station, you want to be prepared for any question they could throw your way. The reporter has your reputation in their hands. As a former news reporter, I understand how members of the media think and the questions they’re likely to ask you. I’ll work with you on practice interviews to perfect your phrasing, key points and gestures to entice readers and viewers to want to learn more about you and your business.
Pitching a story to the media
One of the best forms of advertising is totally free — the news! But how do you get the attention of reporters and editors to tell your story? I’ll help you draft news releases that address the topics, angles and visual elements members of the media are looking for to fill their newscasts and publications.
Interviewing for a job
One of the hardest pitches many of us have to make is selling ourselves to a potential boss. What accomplishments and experiences should you share to demonstrate you’re the right person for the job? How do you sound confident without coming across arrogant? We’ll identify your attributes and examples of your contributions in the industry, then practice with mock interviews.
